The record

BAD for tenants 1 of 5

When renters needed help, he voted no. Again and again.

Every time council moved to help renters, Bradford found a reason to vote no. No to strengthening the Rental Housing Supply Program. No to expanding incentives for purpose-built rental. No to going further on Toronto Builds. And no, three years running, to budgets that fund the Rent Bank, eviction prevention and tenant support.

Brad's BAD for tenants.

BAD for TTC riders 2 of 5

He voted to raise your fare. Again and again.

Since 2018, Brad's voted to hike TTC fares and cut services. When the 2026 budget froze fares and funded school meals, he called it vote-buying. When the TTC put crisis workers on the system so riders, and especially women riding alone at night, have someone to turn to, he called it window dressing. Higher fares, less safety.

Brad's BAD for TTC riders.

On the record

  1. Voted to adopt each of the Tory budgets from 2019 to 2022, including 2020's, which raised TTC fares. City of Toronto vote records: 2019.EX2.5, 2020.EX13.2, 2021.EX21.2, 2022.EX30.2
  2. Voted no on the core of the Mayor's budgets in 2024, 2025 and 2026, the ones that froze fares. City of Toronto vote records: 2024.CC15.1, 2025.CC27.1, 2026.CC38.1
  3. February 2026: called the budget that froze fares a pre-election attempt to buy votes. CBC News, Feb 11 2026
  4. Dismissed the expanded TTC crisis-worker program as window dressing and called for more fare enforcement instead. NOW Toronto, Oct 1 2025
BAD for renters 3 of 5

500 Dawes Road is in his ward. Ask the tenants.

For years the families at 500 Dawes Road in East York lived with crumbling balconies, failed maintenance and a landlord who didn't fix things. Their tenants' association says complaints to Bradford's office went nowhere. The tenant advocacy organization ACORN says he refused to meet them. Brad took no action against a slumlord in his own ward.

Brad's BAD for renters.

On the record

  1. Tenants and ACORN took the landlord to the Landlord and Tenant Board over lack of maintenance after years of organizing. ACORN Canada, Jan 19 2026
  2. Tenants' association: complaints to RentSafeTO, Municipal Licensing and Standards and Councillor Bradford went unanswered. Dawes Road Tenants' Association
  3. Tenant leaders say he refused for years to meet with ACORN about conditions in the building. Progress Toronto, May 8 2026
BAD for safe streets 4 of 5

He'll rip out the bike lanes he voted for. You pay for the demolition.

In 2023 Bradford voted to put protected bike lanes on Bloor Street West. In August 2026 he promised to tear them out if elected Mayor, along with a stretch on Yonge. Bradford's answer on bike lanes is the same as Doug Ford's: rip them out and leave you with the bill.

Brad's BAD on bike lanes.

On the record

  1. May 2020: voted yes to build the Bloor West Bikeway Extension. Carried 23–2. City of Toronto vote record, 2020.CC21.20
  2. 2023: council approved extending the Bloor West lanes 21–1. Bradford voted yes. CP24, Aug 11 2026
  3. August 2026: promised the Bloor West and Yonge lanes come out in year one, and said it is a commitment, not a pilot or a study. TorontoToday, Aug 11 2026
BAD for Canadian jobs 5 of 5

In a trade war, he went to bat for American tech giants.

While Toronto was pulling American products off shelves and the city was revising procurement rules to favour Canadian companies, Bradford moved a motion to keep City dollars flowing to two giant American rideshare corporations. When it mattered, he chose Silicon Valley over Toronto drivers, transit workers and small businesses.

Brad's BAD for Canadian jobs.

On the record

  1. March 26, 2025: moved his own amendment (motion 3) to keep City spending flowing to Uber and Lyft during the tariff response. Only four councillors joined him. Lost 5–17. City of Toronto vote record, 2025.EX21.2, Bradford motion 3
  2. Two minutes later, voted no on Councillor Fletcher's amendment (motion 5). Carried 17–6 without him. City of Toronto vote record, 2025.EX21.2, Fletcher motion 5
  3. Once council had rejected his change, he voted for the final tariff plan along with everyone else, 23–0. The plan passed despite him, not because of him. City of Toronto vote record, 2025.EX21.2, adoption
